What is Early Payday?
Early Payday is a complimentary service from UW Credit Union that lets you access funds from qualifying Automated Clearing House (ACH) direct deposits up to two days early in your personal checking account. Keep in mind that early access depends on when the payment initiator, typically a business or government entity, sends us the notification that your deposit is on its way.
Why is UWCU offering this new feature?
We know that having quick and secure access to your paycheck or other funds is essential for managing daily expenses and maintaining your financial well-being. By providing early access to these funds whenever possible, we're adding more value to your membership and helping you stay on top of your finances.
How does Early Payday work?
When your employer or benefits provider submits the payment information, UWCU will process it up to two days early instead of on the payday. This means you'll have access to your funds sooner, allowing you to start spending it earlier. It’s similar to depositing a paper check and we give you immediate access to the funds rather than waiting for the check to “clear” first. But with direct deposit, there’s no risk of the payment bouncing or not clearing even when we give you access before your payday. You are safe to use it!
What if I already have direct deposit at UW Credit Union?
If it’s going into a personal checking account, then you’re all set! No need to take further action – Early Payday will occur whenever possible, automatically.
Will I always get my paycheck two days early?
Early availability of your paycheck isn't guaranteed. It depends on when we receive the direct deposit advance notification from the sender of the funds. You might get your funds one day early, or on the actual pay date if the notifications aren't delivered in advance.
How will I know if my deposit is available early?
You can set up special Early Payday transaction alerts under Profile Notifications in our app. Once you see that a deposit has been posted early in your account history, you're free to spend or use your money however you like.
How can I set up my direct deposit to UW Credit Union?
Setting up direct deposit with UWCU is easy! There are a few ways to get the information you need.
Once you have successfully enrolled in direct deposit, your payroll provider can make payments directly into your checking account electronically, without mailing a paper check.
Can I stop getting my direct deposits early?
No, Early Payday is an automatic feature on all personal checking accounts. This free benefit allows all eligible deposits into your account to be posted early, giving you quicker access to your funds and allowing you to start using your money sooner, without any cost or risk. Enjoy the convenience and flexibility of having your money when you need it!
Is Early Payday like a loan or an advance on my paycheck?
No, there is no credit check, and no fees or interest applied to giving you early access to your Direct Deposit. Because we have the exact information about your deposit straight from your employer and it cannot be reversed by them before your payday, there is no risk or debt created from this new faster process.
Is there a fee for Early Payday?
Nope! Early Payday is a free, automatic feature available to all members with personal checking accounts and direct deposit at UW Credit Union. You do not have to pay a fee to get paid early!
